Jux tournament: what it is and when to use it

The Jux tournament is the most flexible mode in ShuttleFlow. It is ideal when variety, fun, and balanced mixing matter more than a strict tournament tree. In practice, teams are often regenerated from round to round and pairings are adapted dynamically.

Typical characteristics

New partners and new opponents every round.
Individual ranking rather than a fixed team ranking.
Good for club evenings, training formats, and casual events.

Sub-modes

Equal team strength: teams are formed as evenly as possible.
Random team members: mixing is more random, but still weighted fairly.
Switch after each round: alternates between the two strategies.

With or without fixed teams?

Jux usually does not use fixed teams. Instead, ShuttleFlow builds new pairings from the active players. If you want fixed teams, Swiss or KO is usually the clearer fit.

When is Jux the best choice?

When the group should be mixed up and not every match needs to be strictly competitive.
When multiple courts should be filled quickly with changing combinations.
When variety, dynamics, and relaxed play are the priorities.

Example

A club evening with twelve players and four courts is a good Jux use case: round by round, new partners are created and players get as many different opponents as possible, without a strict seeding logic being the main focus.
